On tour “Pagsambang Bayan” (literally translates People’s Mass/Worship), a play acclaimed for its bold defiance and militance during Martial Law years was once again restaged and for the first time shown in Cavite last February 28, 2009 at the Emilio Aguinaldo College in Dasmariñas, Cavite.

Written by award winning writer Bonifacio P. Ilagan and directed by the highly acclaimed Behn Cervantes, the play was basically a Christian mass played lively with speech choirs and musical choruses that dare to speak out on the issues and struggles of the peasants, workers, urban-poor, indigenous peoples, women, youth and professionals leading on to Christian’s teachings and vision of a humane society. Slogans such as “freedom from oppressive rulers” are highlighted in the play as the casts are all drawn to the priest character to act upon the will of the people.

The play was staged with two playtimes, 4pm and 7pm and was seen by more than a hundred audiences in each play. The staging of the play in Cavite was sponsored by the Workers Assistance Center (WAC) and was supported by the Solidarity of Cavite Workers (SCW) and the Kairos- Canadian Ecumenical Justice.  It was performed by the Tag-Ani Performing Society.
